Many assignments (labs) are not autograded. Solution and walkthrough video will be provided once you complete the assignment.

Step 1. Make a copy of the Google Colab notebook

To get started with your lab assignment, you'll need to create your own copy of the Google Colab notebook. This ensures you have your own workspace to work in.

1. Open the Google Colab notebook provided for your assignment
2. Click on File in the menu bar
3. Select Save a copy in Drive from the dropdown menu

This will create a copy of the notebook in your Google Drive, which you can then work on and submit.

Step 2. Run this cell to set up the database

Before you begin working on the assignment, you need to set up the database connection and prepare the environment.

1. Find the cell labeled "Connect to the DB" or the setup cell at the beginning of the notebook
2. Click the Run button (▶️) next to the cell
3. Wait for the cell to complete execution - this will download the database file and establish the connection

Important Notes:

• This cell downloads the database file and sets up the necessary libraries (pandas, sqlite3, etc.)
• Make sure the cell runs successfully before proceeding to the questions
• The database connection will be available for all subsequent cells in the notebook

Tips for success

Adding code cells

You can add more code cells to check your code before submitting it. This is highly recommended!

1. Click the + Code button in the notebook toolbar
2. Write and test your code in the new cell
3. Once you're confident, copy your solution to the answer field and submit

Best practices

• ✅ Test your code in separate cells before submitting
• ✅ Read the question carefully to understand what's being asked
• ✅ Check the feedback after each submission
• ✅ You can submit multiple times, but remember: make sure the database setup cell has run successfully before starting
• ✅ For "Write a line of code" questions, make sure your code returns the exact value requested
